Workshops and other fun programs, such as overnight stays, are available for kids of all ages interested in learning more about how the world works. High school students can check out the COSI Academy, which provides field trip and opportunities for like-minded students as well as presentations from prominent scientists, in order that students can get a taste of what a future career in science would be like. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

Franklin Park Conservatory

The Franklin Park Conservatory houses many botanical exhibits and gardens for those interested in ecology, horticulture and natural science. Classes are offered on nature-related topics and provide fun and learning for kids and their parents. Summer day camps and guided tours through the plant collections provide instruction and inspiration for those interested in art and science.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium provides educational experiences for those interested in the earth and its wildlife, especially those interested in related careers in the future. Preschoolers can participate in day programs to learn about the zoo's fascinating collection of animals while elementary students can participate in summer camps or earn scout badges. Middle- and high-school students are offered the chance to learn about zoo careers in the same type of environment in which they would ultimately work. An interesting program, zoo shadowing lets high school juniors or seniors follow zookeepers for a day to learn about their jobs.

Ohio 4-H
